Absence Seizures or Petit Mal Seizures

These are common among young children and are characterized by brief periods of unconsciousness, without any falling or convulsions. The eyes may blink rapidly, or turn upwards for a moment and there may be minor twitching movents of parts of the face or body. these attacks often pass unnoticed or is sometimes mistaken for daydreaming.

In some cases, absence seizures may occur often thereby causing problems with learning in the classroom.

First Aid for Absence Seizures

Theses seizures do not require any form of assistance other than reassurance when the attack is over.
